This Saturday November 28, 2015, the Mauritanian Friendship Association of Greater Cincinnati, MFAGC, commemorated the 55th anniversary of Mauritania’s Independence Day with a dinner in Florence, Kentucky.
The event, which was held at the Florence Hilton hotel, was an opportunity for all Mauritanians living in the region to join together in observance of the birth of their common nation of origin.
The crowd of men, women and children stood up in unison as the Mauritanian national anthem filled the air of the conference room, before the executive bureau of MFAGC delivered a welcome speech through its President Hady Anne.
Imam Abdel Ghadr Ould Siyam then recited a prayer for all the Mauritanians who lost their lives on this day, followed by a dua’a sent in unison by the entire assembly.
The Independence Day event was true to the spirit of the MFAGC community association, whose primary ambition is to bring together and strengthen the Mauritanian community in the greater Cincinnati area.
