Brief report about the celebration of the 57th anniversary of the Mauritanian Independence by the Mauritanian Friendship Association in Cincinnati
The Executive Bureau of the Mauritanian Friendship Association of Greater Cincinnati organized a special event to commemorate the 57th anniversary of the Independence Day of Mauritania on Sunday December 10th at the Fairfield Inn & Suited by Marriott in Sharonville, Ohio.
Many Mauritanians from all stripes of the community have participated In the event, and they were joyous and happy to do so as they were celebrating this very special and dear event, which shows that they are connected to the nation, and they love it, and ready to defend its independence and dignity. Some of the participants came from our community in Indiana.
The party began by a speech by the President of the Association Mr. Moctar Jiddou who thanked all members for their participation and presence, he also added that the Association is a non governmental, non political organization, and should not be held liable for the past or future political problems and grievances in the County. Its goal, adds Mr Jiddou, revolves around national unity, social harmony, and reconciliation among all members of the community.
After the president’s welcome word, the floor was open to all participants. There were many participants who expressed their views about different national matters, which does not reflect the views of the Association, even though the Association respects and values everyone’s view and ideas, but it asserts that it is not a political organization, and is not a part of any political discourse or organization.
The party was entertained by two Mauritanian singers, and some Mauritanian and American dishes were served; which was met with excitement and approval by the participants.
